Two Day Plein Air Workshop
Instructor: Howard Friedland AISM
Every painter has within them the need to express with paint, the people, places and things that resonate strongly within them. True artistry is born of the tastes and experience of the individual’s soul. No instructor can teach students what to paint or exactly how to paint it. Those things are your personal choice and what make you, YOU!
I like to say to students” you bought the paint, brushes and canvas so you get to use them any way you like!”
There is however, what are called the “mechanics” of painting. These are helpful tidbits of information that will help guide a painter, aiding them in describing more accurately and visually the statement they’re aiming to express. These notions have been passed down over centuries from teacher to student.
Why reinvent the wheel if you can delve into that treasure trove of information?
In this 2 day workshop we will be painting “en plain air” (weather permitting) the way Claude Monet and the impressionists love to paint. I’ll discuss approaches to capturing quickly, an effective design and an accurate color study. I will demonstrate those techniques and at the end of each session I’ll critique the paintings of those who would like to get my input.
These are some of the topics I will be covering.
