Painting en plein air is a completely different experience from working from photos in the comfort of your studio. In this fun and relaxed one-day workshop, we’ll explore how to prepare for the many challenges that come with painting on location.
Gamblin Colors has generously offered to supply the Oil Paint and Gamsol odorless thinner for everyone in Howard's workshop, So... no need to bring your own Oil Paint or Gamsol! Each participant will receive Howard's selected colors of Gamblin Oil Colors on their palette as well as Gamsol.
All you need to bring is your easel set up with palette, brushes/palette knife, panels with carrier, thinner cup, paper towels, etc!

Thursday Evening, April 30
Join me for an introductory lecture and demonstration—either indoors from a photo reference or outdoors from life, depending on weather and lighting conditions.
Friday Morning, May 1
We’ll begin with a brief review of Thursday’s lecture, then set up to paint. Once everyone is working, I’ll circulate to answer questions, offer suggestions, and provide individual guidance as you paint at your easel.
