Letter from the president, Tom Bluemlein...

When I was asked to become the President of the American Impressionist Society I was honored. Yet, I did not say yes without careful consideration to the commitment required to do a good job. I know in my heart that this young organization will someday be prominent among the art organizations that exist. My commitment is to champion impressionist painting in America and I often use Tom Bluemlein….American Impressionist in my promotional material.

My wife Jonna and I are currently in the process of relocating to Santa Fe, New Mexico. One of the main reasons is to immerse myself in a city that’s main focus is the arts. Thank you all for this honor and I hope to meet all of you in the coming year.

Sincerely,

Tom Bluemlein

Message from the outgoing president...

It is time for a changing of the guard and I am pleased to have Tom and Jonna Bluemlein to pass the torch to.  They are coming into the Presidency with lots of new ideas and energy.  I have offered to help with the transition and will stay on as show chairman for the 2008 juried show.  We are very much looking forward to this show, which will be in Palm Desert, California in November.  Everyone – put November 22nd on your calendar and plan to attend!

Arrangements are in the works for workshops and demos.  Look for postings on the web page as the months progress.  I hope all of you have a prosperous new year and thanks for letting me serve as your president.

Appreciation for a Job Well Done!!

On behalf of the entire membership of the American Impressionist Society Inc., the Board of Directors wishes to thank Mary Garrish Podnos, for her 2 years as our dynamic president. We also appreciate and thank the committees for their dedicated work and time spent on the exhibits.

Under Mary’s leadership, she unselfishly gave of her time, energy and monetary value to make the 2007 National Juried Exhibit at the Hilligoss Gallery in Chicago, Illinois, the most successful to date.  The response and sales were so good that Tom Hilligoss invited many of our members to a follow up exhibit on Michigan Avenue.  Several collectors attended and invested in American Impressionist Painter’s works, which has been the ultimate goal of our Society.

We wish Mary the very best in her future painting endeavors and we are pleased that she will continue next year helping with the 2008 exhibit at Palm Desert, California.

Sincerely,
A.I.S. Board of Directors
